Well first of all i have to congratulate Blue Moon For attempting to remaster this stuff, the label has a deservedly good reputation among fans, But I have To say That on this release the results are mixed
the first 7 tracks have indeed been remastered and they do sound different but whether it is an improvement will depend on the listeners personal taste, to my ears they sound a tiny bit sibilant and ever so slightly tinny
when i first played the cd i was almost shocked by the way they sounded but after a few plays i've got to like them and i have to say that this is the best version i've heard of this off speed 7 track demo that Kurt mailed out to Record labels in 88, ("Christmas in seattle 1988" has 6 of these 7 tracks is brilliant quality and on speed)
in defence of the cd currently being reviewed they are all hiss free and the tracks are all correctly separated unlike on the original outcesticide where the first few seconds of track 3-"floyd" appear on the end of track 2
track 8-blandest is Ok, i don't think it's as good as the version that blue moon put on "outcesticide 3" or the version on christmas in Seattle 1988
the 4 track demos polly, sappy and seed (tracks 9-11) are arguably worse they have some pops and static not noticeable on the original issue
track 12 is do You love me, which seems identical to the original release, maybe on
repeated listens it seems slightly overdriven but we're talking a very very very slightly hardly noticeable degree
track 13 is been a son and it is absolutely perfect-worthy of an official release
track 14 is token eastern song, the remastered version is possibly ever so slightly more trebly than the original release, not really noticeable
track 15 is opinion it is slightly more complete than the original but i don't like it -sorry!
the original was bass heavy and over driven
this version has no bottom end and sounds very harsh and trebly,
16 D-7 (version) i love this track it's the closest we'll ever get to "nirvana in dub" :-)
there is a real improvement here, the original had a slight distortion on the snare drum which has been fixed here the version here just sounds cleaner if a little bassy
17-19 Smart studio demos 4/90 Brilliant!!
now for me this is were this Cd really comes into it's own these tracks are brilliant
the original release had these tracks off speed and distorted , but this release has them perfectly these are the best versions you will find anywhere they are good enough to be on nevermind!
thats the big coup for this cd
20-21 dutch radio sessions, sadly these are not as complete as the versions on the original outcesticide, you'll need to get that cd for the best versions
these versions are as they appear on "the complete radio sessions" they fade in and out, the originals didn't
22.return of the rat, this was mastered from the vinyl 7" , but it is the best you will find anywhere,it's stunning
23.talk to me -no real difference here, maybe slightly more trebly than the original
but neither are bad considering the source
24&25 are eulogies at kurts memorial vigil, not the sort of thing you'll want to listen to much

I have all the official outcesticides, and happened upon this disc only a few months ago. I wondered what was the point. However, After listening to it I realise what an amazing disc it is! The first 7 demos are really good, and it’s weird to hear Nirvana so early on in their existence. The quality is MUCH better than the original. Blandest follows – and it certainly is an A+ recording. The following 'mellow 4-track shit' is really interesting – especially Sappy. The kiss cover is pretty decent, and the 'slower, lamer' version of Been A Son is really interesting. Junkyard is quite cool, Opinion is really good. D-7 follows. I think it’s probably the only low spot of the album. The next 3 demos can be found in speeded up version on Grunge Is Dead. The VPRO session if wicked. The cd finishes off with Return of the rat, talk to me, which is now my favourite song. Then we have Courtney's and Krist's euologys. A sad end to an amazing title.
