Nirvana Bootography Review: "Been A Soon" is a difficult to find Japanese CD. It's likely a clone of "Live Memorial In Japan". The recording is somewhat rough, but enjoyable.
The set list is a little odd because the show begins with "Negative Creep." After "Negative Creep" Krist announces that the next song is "Been A Son", which the bootleg manufacturer misinterpreted as "Been A Soon". This was the bands first performance in Japan, and the band sounds a little disturbed by the audiences lack of participation. Krist tells the audience "Hey everybody, this is your rock and roll show! C'mon up front!! C'mon down!" and then sings the intro to "Territorial Pissings" - "C'mon people now, smile on your brother everybody come up front... AND GET DOWN RIGHT NOW!!!!!" "Lounge Act" was also played, which is always a nice bonus.
Before "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Kurt tells the audience "We will patiently wait for the dinosaurs to die out. They will die.... And then we'll move into their homes" (can somebody check me on that last line?).
This is a good 1992 show to have, but isn't necessarily for beginners since the recording is a little rough. Pick it up if you have the opportunity.
