Nirvana Bootography Review: "Up In Smoke" is the more common version of 10-26-93, the other being "Beautiful Demise" (which isn't rare, just not as common as "Up In Smoke"). Kiss The Stone, as usual, did a great job with the packaging and artwork, but unfortunately cut "Endless Nameless" from the CD. "Beautiful Demise" also contains filler from Saturday Night Live. The sound quality is the best attribute of this double CD set. Both CDs in this set are under 50 minutes in length, which is a little disappointing.
Kurt's guitar, especially in the beginning of the performance, is not distorted enough. Distortion is what gives a guitar its "crunch" sound... "Territorial Pissings" on the album "Nevermind" for example, is overly distorted. Kurt's vocals are a little low in volume too... but it gets better and the complaints are minor.
The show is fairly average and contains no real rarities or banter worthy of mention. "Up In Smoke" is simply a very solid show from 1993. It's definitely worth getting, but shouldn't be a collector's first priority. Pick up "Beautiful Demise" instead, if you have the chance.
** The artwork mistakenly labels this show as October 23, 1993. This performance occured on October 26, 1993.
