In 1977, a band called The Wipers hit Portland, Oregon like a tornado. The rhythm section forced you to dance, the guitar sound was raw and yet at the same time melodic and the vocals expressed the struggle, confusion and anger felt by all. For over ten years, Greg Sage and The Wipers have continued to be a source of inspiration. We offer these songs as way of thanks.
We would like to thank the following people for their contribution to this project: All the members of Napalm Beach, M99, Nirvana, Poison Idea, Dharma Bums, Crackerbush, Hole, The Whirlees, Nation of Ulysses, Honey, Hazel, Calamity Jane, Saliva Tree and Thurston Moore-Kieth Nealy. Jim Talstra and Sean Croghan for coming up with the initial idea, Nick Close, Marc Trunz, Mike Quinn and Monqui, Bart Day, David Burman at D.G.C., and a sincere note of appreciation to John Silva and Janet at Gold Mountain for going out of their way for us.
Thanks again to Drew Canulette and Norm Costa at Dogfish Sound for their patience through all the days and long nights of recording. Thanks to Brian Foxworthy, Slayer Hippy, Mike Lastra, Mailon Brousseau, Greg Talenfeld, Jimmy Boyle and his house and Bob Stark at Sound Impressions. And to Kurt for pulling it together with Barret Jones at Laundry Room Studios despite the difficulties.
