LIVE NIRVANA TV GUIDE: 1997-2001
1997
Programme Title: Jam
Broadcast Date/s: Sometime in 1997
Length: 9 Minutes
Notes: This is part of a 45 minute special on Foo
Fighters. It features Dave talking about being in the
band and interviews with other bands and Nirvana's
producer Butch Vig. Drain You and My Best Friend's
Girl are from 03/01/94, Terminal 1, Munich, Germany.

Programme Title: Kurt & Courtney
Broadcast Date/s: 10/31/98
Length: 90 Minutes
Notes: This is the infamous documentary into the death
of Kurt. It contains interviews with some people
connected with Nirvana and an incredibly brief clip
one of, Kurt's early demo tapes. It courted much
controversy at the time but is actually rather mild if
admittedly a bit sleazy. This has also been released
on an official video, so should be pretty easy to
track down. Matt Seward has also written a scene by scene
guide to this video which you can find
here.

Programme Title: Rock Babylon
Broadcast Date/s: 12/98
Length: 3 Minutes
Notes: The interview is the same interview featured on
the Metal Express and Fax O programs and was recorded
on the Seattle waterfront in August 1993.

1999
Programme Title: Barewitness
Broadcast Date/s: 10/99, 04/10/01
Length: 21 Minutes
Notes: This is a special focusing on Nirvana's
unplugged concert recorded in MTV Studios, New York,
NY on 11/18/93. It features clips from the show and
also some brief clips from the sound check (no songs
are shown) which is for the most part the band
standing about and talking. The interviews featured
in the special are interviews with the team behind the
Unplugged and a couple of the fans that were present
and make up the majority of the special. There is also
an interview with Krist recorded backstage at the
venue that pops up briefly a couple of times during
the special. All songs shown are only clips.

Programme Title: Egos and Icons
Broadcast Date/s: 02/24/00
Length: 50 Minutes
Notes: Most of the interviews shown here are the same
as on Kurt Cobain Remembered shown 04/94 all in
shorter form. Most of the interviews are shown in
short form except the August 1993 interview, which is
repeated throughout the special acting as a narrative.
The Hole interview is also shown in the Kurt Cobain
Remembered special but appears here in slightly longer
form. The biography section appears throughout the
special and is subtitles over musical interludes for
the most part of the promo's. All footage including
the live footage is shown in part. This appears to be
a recycled programme from a tribute shown in 1994.

Programme Title: Supernova
Broadcast Date/s: Unknown
Length: 2 Hours
Notes: This is a Brazilian special on the band, by
far the main object of interest is a 1:10 clip of
Drain You from 01/16/93, Estádio do Morumbi, São Paulo,
Brazil. The special also includes excepts of MTV's
Past Present and Future programme shown 02/07/94. The
footage shown of this is exactly the same as the
material featured in that special only split into
several segments.
About A Girl and Endless Nameless are from 10/31/91,
Paramount Theater, Seattle, WA. Polly and Territorial
Pissings are taken from 01/10/92, MTV Studios, New
York, NY. Lithium is from 09/09/92, MTV Video Music

Programme Title: A Kurt Cobain Tribute (MTV2)
Broadcast Date/s: 04/10/01
Length: 58 Minutes
Notes: This is an interesting tribute as it focuses on
the music rather than Kurt's death. It is mainly
promotional videos with a few live songs. Videos are
introduced by band members that are fans of the band:
JJ72, Slash (yes I am not kidding this is the ex Guns
N' Roses guitarist), Feeder and Death In Vegas. It
also includes the following videos from bands related
to Nirvana: Mudhoney's This Gift, Beat Happening's
Pinebox Derby, Jesus Lizard's Puss (other side of
Nirvana/Jesus Lizard split single) and the Melvins'
Hooch. Of the live songs, The Man Who Sold The World,
All Apologies and About A Girl are taken from 11/18/93,
MTV Unplugged, New York, NY. Lithium is taken from
06/26/92, Roskilde Festival, Roskilde, Denmark and is
for me the highlight of the tribute and Territorial
Pissings is taken from 01/10/92, MTV Studios, New
York, NY. All footage is shown in its entirety.

Programme Title: I Love 1991
Broadcast Date/s: 09/01/01
Length: 10 Minutes
Notes: This was shown as a part of BBC2's look back
at 1991. Unsurprisingly Nirvana appear as the musical
highlight of the year. The special features
celebrities giving rather uninspiring anecdotes about
Grunge fashion and how 'great' Smells Like Teen Spirit
was. Ignoring this however and the special doe prove
worthy of note mainly for the interviews and some
brief unseen footage of the band introducing
themselves. Smells Like Teen Spirit (1) is taken from
11/08/91, Channel 4 Studios, London, UK. Smells Like
Teen Spirit (2) is taken from 11/27/91, BBC Studios,
London, UK. Destruction footage is taken from
11/23/91, Vooruit, Ghent, Belgium.

Programme Title: 1991 Forever
Broadcast Date/s: 10/20/01
Length: 2 Minutes
Notes: The interview featured is the same one found
on 03/21/92 Raw Power and features the band being
interviewed in a bathroom. It also unfortunately
features some very ignorant commentary on the band by
the narrator of the programme.
