Krist: They're plugged in… that's why I'm saying, "How's this gonna look?!" Because our guitars are all plugged in, but then again it's an electronic medium.
Krist: That was- the first instrument I learned was the accordion. Kurt bought one, I put it on and started playing it. We were starting to screw around for rehearsals for Unplugged and we did Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam, this Vaselines song…
MTV: Did Dave have to, like, hold back on his drumming?
Krist: Oh yeah, totally! We were about to tell him, "Oh, we're gonna put- wrap you in this glass capsule!" But then we found these weird sticks he can use and we got him a small drum-set and he's just… he's doing really good.

MTV: Tell me, what are you looking forward to most, unplugged?
Krist: Oh, to show off our softer side, like- like scented toilet paper…
Krist: They're plugged in… that's why I'm saying, "How's this gonna look?!"
Krist: We've been Meat Puppets fans for a long time, and uh, we were trying to pick out their songs in practice but we never got it right!
Krist: Here we are today, assembled together, under one roof!
Krist: We were starting to screw around for rehearsals for Unplugged and we did this Vaselines song… and it was just kinda, I think it's a violin or- or an organ or something… and I go "I know, I know, I know! I'll play an accordion on this song!" I picked it up and started playing it and it sounded really cool, so it just kinda happened.

MTV: So tell me what you think of the whole idea of 'Unplugged'.
Krist: Well, they're plugged in… that's why I'm saying, "How's this gonna look?!" Because our guitars are all plugged in, but then again it's an electronic medium. It's like, we're gonna go to every house in the United States, or every house with cable, or every house with cable that watches MTV, or their parents allow them to watch MTV or whatever. But, it's a good shtick.
MTV: Did you have to alter your style much for this show? I mean, it's for television, and did Dave have to, like, hold back on his drumming?
Krist: Oh yeah, totally! We were about to tell him, "Oh, we're gonna put- wrap you in this glass capsule!" But then we found these weird sticks he can use and we got him a small drum-set and he's just… he's doing really good.
MTV: Are you gonna release an 'Unplugged' album? That's the big question.
Krist: Oh god, everybody does that. That's another shtick. You know what I mean? R.E.M. didn't, so maybe we shouldn't. That's my criteria.
