16 - Krist Anthony Noveselic is born to Krist (a truck driver) and
Maria Noveselic in Compton, California. Krist's parents were Croatian
immigrants. His father moved to the USA in 1963 and his future wife
followed in 1964. They lived in Gardena, California.

January
31 - Chad Channing is born to Burnyce and Wayne Channing in Santa Rosa,
California.
February
20 - Kurt Donald Cobain is born at Community Hospital in Aberdeen,
Washington to Donald (a mechanic) and Wendy Cobain who lived in Hoquiam.
He weighed 7lb 7.5oz.
August
? - The Cobains move to Aberdeen, a block away from the North Aberdeen
Bridge, which runs over the Wishkah river.
1969
? - Kurt begins to show an interest in music; Wendy's family were very musical (CAYA, p.13). It was Kurt's aunt Mary who first gave him a guitar.
January
14 - Dave Grohl is born to James and Virginia Grohl in Warren Ohio. His
father was a journalist and his mother an English teacher.
1972
? - The Grohls move to Springfield, Virginia.
1973
? - Kurt's Aunt Mary gave him a bass drum, which he would beat and play songs like 'Hey Jude' and 'Revolution' by the Beatles (CAYA, p.14).
? - Krist Noveselic's sister is born.
? - Kurt's ability to draw was first recognised (CAYA, p.15)
? - Kurt starts to take drum lessons.
? - Dave Grohl's parents divorce and Dave was raised by his mother (CAYA, p.147).

? - Wendy and Donald Cobain decide to get a divorce and start divorce
proceedings.
1977
? - Kurt enters fifth grade and starts music classes.

? - Donald Cobain remarries.
1979
? - The Noveselic's move to a house Aberdeen on Think of Me Hill. Krist was 14.
? - Dave Grohl starts playing guitar.

? - Kurt enters the seventh grade. By this time he was the drummer in the
school band.
1980
? - Kurt began experimenting with drugs and is diagnosed with scoliosis (CAYA, p.17).

? - Krist is sent to Croatia for a year to live with his parents because his
parents were worried about his depression (CAYA, p.51).
Summer
? - Kurt went to see the Melvins practice. Kurt had got to know the bass
player, Matt Lukin, through the baseball league his father made him join and joint electronics
lessons.
1981
? - Kurt started to make his own short films using his parent's Super-8 camera.
? - Kurt meets Buzz Osbourne, the leader of the Melvins, through art class.
? - Krist returns to Aberdeen and attends the same school as Kurt. Krist meets Buzz Osbourne (of 'Melvins' fame) whilst working at the Taco Bell.
? - Dave Grohl starts received his first electic guitar (Gaar, Goldmine).

20 - Kurt gets his first guitar (a Lindell) for his birthday, with a 10-watt
amp, from his uncle Chuck (CAYA, p.22)
1982
? - Kurt produces a film called 'Kurt Commits Bloody Suicide' (AKA 'The Horror Movie') in which he pretends to kill himself.
? - Kurt and Krist meet through Buzz Osbourne.
Summer
? -Dave discovers punk rock whilst staying with his cousin Tracy
in Illinois.
1983
? - Krist graduates from high-school. His parents divorce shortly afterwards.
? - Kurt starts cutting class (CAYA, p.33)
? - Kurt's father persuades him to sell his guitar and join the Navy. Kurt passes the recruitment exam, but refuses to join (CAYA, p.34)

29 - Kurt goes to Seattle Center Coliseum to see Sammy Hagar & Quaterflash (HTH).

? - Kurt sees the Melvins for the first time in Montesano Thriftway parking lot "The Them festival" (HTH).
