Just as recordable CDs have made analog cassettes redundant in collectors' circles, DVDs are blasting video cassettes into the obscurity of traders' attics.
DVDs have numerous advantages over all other media: they have better picture quality, and being a digital medium, they do not suffer quality loss when they are copied. Hence, by converting low generation videos to the DVD format, these important documents of live concerts are being saved from decay for all future generations of NIRVANA fans.
Jim Hirte was the pioneer in the NIRVANA community and was the first to utilise the new DVD format. He has written an informative description of how he transfers video cassettes to DVD, which we hope will be of interest to all of you who would like to learn more about the process.
We intend to review DVDs here as soon as they appear on the collectors' circuit, and hope to provide collectors with the most up-to-date information possible.
