A 1:10 clip of this song surfaced in the late '90s ('97 or '98?) when
The Stranger published an article on their site and included links to the song in both WAV and RealAudio formats. Krist Novoselic was rumored to have been the person that provided the tape to
The Stranger. The song was originally found on an early '90s boombox recording that was given to Butch Vig a week before the
Nevermind sessions.
Kurt Cobain later gave the song to Courtney Love and Hole released their rendition on some formats of the '93 EP
Beautiful Son, which featured a photo of a young Cobain as the front artwork. Hole also released the song on
My Body, The Hand Grenade in '97, and played the song during their 1995.02.14
Unplugged session.
Fake instrumentals of this song have circulated. Apparently someone wanted to prove how easy it was to fool people.
