Good news: You no longer have to buy the entire set of videos just to see one segment. At last check, each video in the set is now available for about $20. (You still need to ask yourself if that price is reasonable considering how little Nirvana content there is, though.)

Volume 9, which is one of a ten-part series, airs mostly on cable channels such as The Learning Channel and VH1. (I've also seen it on a local PBS station and possibly an independent station, too. However, I may be confusing this documentary with another that's similar.)
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" was played, but which version? I remember a sound clip being played while other video footage was shown, but Matt Reeder tells me it was a video clip from the U.K. television show "Top Of The Pops."
From The Nirvana Video Guide:
-
"Mostly clips from 1991: The Year Punk Broke. This is part of a 10 volume Time/Life documentary, that totals 10 hours in all. Nirvana appears on the above mentioned volume devoted to 'punk.' Some interesting interviews and footage profiling some of the all time great punk rock influences."
