Banned For Life

Live Nirvana Bootography Rating: A  97%

Live Nirvana Bootography Review:
GREAT SHOW!!!! This disc sports the complete 9-11-92 show (almost 78 minutes) from a crisp, clear, digital audience recording. The set list is fantastic and includes a lot of early "In Utero" material (3 songs), Lounge Act, and the "More than a feeling" intro for "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

During the "demolition" Krist tells the audience "you guys can leave 'cause we're going to be up here for a while." You need to hear this one to appreciate it. This is one of the best performances ever captured on a commercial bootleg. This disc would have received a grade of 100% if it had been a soundboard recording. Some of the between-song banter has also been edited, however, it's impossible to detect unless you have the complete recording to compare "Banned For Life" with.

This disc was originally released in a digi-pack in 1993 and later re-released in a regular jewelcase. Collectors are encouraged to pick this one up in whatever format they find it.

Great show! The band doesn't talk a whole lot, but they make up for it with a superb show. They dip into some In Utero material (Dumb, tourette's, All Apologies, & Rape Me), as well as other songs not played very often (Lounge Act, Stay Away). All around great show. I recommend it.

I highly suggest picking up this boot. Nirvana plays with a lot of energy, even though they don't chatter that much in-between the songs. Some early "In Utero" material is included, as well as "Lounge Act." It's also a very long boot, so it is worth your money. The only downside, as has been mentioned, is that it was recorded quietly... you can barely make out the bass in "Lounge Act" for example. But aside from that small problem, I still highly suggest picking up this show.

Banned For Life is an excellent bootleg. Each and every song on this album has been played with a lot of agression and energy, this finds it's climax in the earlier stages already, when playing Tourette's (here mislabeled as downtown). You'll also find a great version of Lithium, as you can hear the crowd sing along with great spirit. I have enjoyed this live album more than I would have hoped to before, still it "only" gets 93% because of one small minor: Banned For Life has been recorded very quietly, but this really is the only minor to this bootleg. A must have!

Mislabels:
"tourette's" Labeled As "Downtown"
"All Apologies" Labeled As "What Else Could I Be"
"Dumb" Labeled As "Just Happy"
"Rape Me" Labeled As "Wreck Me"
