Heart Shaped Box Volume 1. Discs 3&4

Live Nirvana Bootography Rating: E  50%

Live Nirvana Bootography Review:
This 2 cd set is a fairly respectable compilation, not earth shattering just acceptable, it's certainly better than discs 1 & 2 from this set which both received an F- grade for liberally pirating official releases.
Tracks 1-7 are Reciprocal Studio demos from Jan the 23rd 1988 and are ripped from the unremastered version of Outcesticide, so no points gained there!
Track 8 is Hairspray Queen seemlingly lifted from "Rough Tapes" who in turn lifted it from vinyl, very pointless when the song's been officially released on Incesticide since 1992!
Tracks 9-12 are a horrible version of the 10/26/89 Peel Session lifted from the "Rough Tapes" cd. Track 13 is a fairly awfull version of Blandest lifted from the original outcesticide the track is now available on the offical box set anyway so thats another redundant track. Tracks 14-16 are where this release gains some point, here you have the best sounding version of the 10/26/89 Peel session ever to make it to Bootleg! the tiny tape speed errors at the start of some of the songs mean that they must have emanated from the 1990 rebroadcast of the session which had the tape problems, still its a stunning sounding version of the session with no audible signs of compression! How did Kiwi get hold of such an A+ quality source? Discs 5 & 6 contain a partial version of the Sept 91 session in the same quality. The rest of Disc 3 contains inferior versions of stuff lifted from Outcesticide, D-7 (test mix) has a drop out so more points lost there.
Tracks 1-3 on disc 4 are mediocre versions of the Smart Studios sessions lifted from the "Rough Tapes" CD. Tracks 4 & 5 are 2 tracks from the 89 peel session again but in worse quality! Whats the point?
Track 6 is the all electric "Lithium" From the Smart sessions, Kiwi seemingly lifted this from "Rough Tapes" who in turn used a generated cassette of a vinyl bootleg...., you get the point. If you absolutely must have this track on a bootleg CD, then the Best Bootleg CD version of the electric lithium was found to be the "Live At Hollywood Rock" 2 cd set. Tracks 7&8 are the 11/25/91 Radio session lifted from Outcesticide except now they're slightly overdriven! Track 9 is is another steal from the original Outcesticide, track 10 is lifted from Outcesticide II and track 11 is from Grunge Is Dead.
Tracks 12-14 are live B-sides from the sub pop days misdated as 4/15/89.Tracks 15-17 are another missed opportunity, it's the soundcheck from the 08/17/90 disc but Kiwi chose to lift the tracks from a defective disc (Most Likely "Ca Uberalles"), you can hear clicking throughout the tracks.
Tracks 18 & 19 are a slight improvement they come from the infamous 10/19/91 "Fight" show and have not appeared on a comemrcial bootleg before. The final 2 tracks are live B-sides from officially released singles.

Heart Shaped Box could have been a very nice 2 cd set containing the 7/23/93 Roseland show, the high quality peel session sources and the 10/19/91 tracks , but Kiwi Decided to pad it out to a ridiculous 8 discs therefore ruining it.
